Generating Test in Course

In some courses, you might want to generate a final test at the end of the course using a randomized set of questions from the existing questions in the already added quizzes in the course. To do so, right-click on any module (typically the last module) and select the Generate Test menu.

Generate Test - It will open a window to specify Question Selection and Generation Option.

A. Question Selection allows you to specify the number of questions to pick for generating the new test.

B. Generation Options - There are two ways to generate a quiz using a number of questions selected.

1) Deliver all questions every time - With this option, all selected questions will be delivered each time in a randomized order.

e.g. In the above case - Two generated tests will be created; each test will have a total of 10 questions.

Each test will have 3 questions from Quiz 1, 2 questions fro Quiz2 and 5 from Quiz3. ( Note: When picking questions from source quiz for generating multiple quizzes, the same question will not be picked if enough questions are available in source quiz)

2) Create a pool and deliver a random subset - In this option, the specified number of questions are delivered each time.

Generate Test creates a question pool by picking a specified number of questions from each quiz, and an adaptive rule is added to deliver a specified number of random questions from the question pool.

e.g. In the above case - Two tests (question pool) will be created having 20 questions each.

Each test will have 5 questions from Quiz 1, 5 questions from Quiz2 and 10 from Quiz3. (Note: When picking questions from source quiz for generating multiple quizzes, the same question will not be picked if enough questions are available in the source quiz)

An adaptive rule will be applied to deliver 8 random questions from the generated pool.

Selecting Few Quizzes from a Course for Test Generation :

In case you want to select specific tests and not all tests as a source, then hold the shift key and click on the tests you want to select as a source; then right-click on the module where you want to generate the test and click on Generate Test.

If you want to make any change in the generated quiz, the quiz can be accessed from the View Tests menu just like quizzes created outside of course. These generated quizzes can be reused in other courses as well.
