Module Scheduling in Course Sessions

In course session, you can control status as well as schedule of all modules and topics. This makes it possible to have a single course with multiple modules, and have many course session for it, but only show certain modules/topics in specific course sessions and not all. By deactivating specific modules/topics in a courseSession, they can be hidden from Learner's view, without deleting them from the main course. Scheduling of modules allows you to make modules/topics in courseSession available in certain period (start / end dates).

Initializing the Start/End dates of modules/topics in CourseSession

When the course session is created, initial schedule of module / topic is created based on the duration of module specific (or calculated) in the course.

Courses content can be divided in multiple modules, and for each module a duration can be specified. In Course delivery module duration can be used to enforce module level scheduling. A module will be accessible to learner within scheduled time window.

e.g. A course contains 3 modules -  Module 1 - (2 days) , Module 2 - (3 days) , Module 3 - (1 day).

Setting Module duration in a Course.

when a course session is created for this course - Schedule for Modules are created using module duration specified in course.

You can edit the course session and change its settings (by opening Settings dialog). To update start/end dates of course session or to update module/topic schedule, use the Edit button on the course session's overview page.

Enabling Module Schedule End date Restriction :

By default only the start dates of module is enforced and not the end dates. To enforce end dates also, open the course session's settings and turn on "Enforce end date setting" available on Learner's Access tab. If this setting is enabled, A Module will be accessible to learner from module start date to end date. Before start date and after end date module will be locked. We can even hide locked module/topic in course player for learner's view. this setting is present in Learner's Access tab. Similarly, to make a module/topic not visible to Learners, make its status Inactive or Deleted in the schedule tab.

Module Schedule based on learner's start date - System provides a option to set module schedule for each learner based on learner's course session enrollment date. course session enrollment date is set as start date of first module and using first module duration as offset end date is set. in the same manner other modules start and end dates are set. So for every learner course modules are delivered in a predefined time frame set for every learner based on learner's course enrollment date.

Courses created without setting module durations / Course Session default setup for Module :- When courses are created without setting any module duration. At course session creation time Module start and end date will be set as course session start date.

By default course sessions are configured to enforce only the start date of module/topics ( which allows learners to access these modules anytime after it's start date till the end of course session). No restriction is applied based on module end date. All modules will be available till the end of course session.
