Android App - Offline Access

If you are planning to use android app in offline mode (flight mode), please read this article to get familiar with how offline mode is supported.

Step 1: Login to your microsite.

Step 2: Your enrolled courses will be displayed once you login

Step 3: Launch the course, while you are online. Click on Download button to cache all the course material in your device storage. You will need enough free space in your device to hold the course content. (Note - The course must allow offline access). Check for the message that says "Course fetched for offline access". Depending on the size of the course and your network speed, it may take some time to download it.

Step 5: Go back and switch on the Flight mode

Step 6: Launch the course again, and start going thru the lessons and quizzes. Notice the Offline status shown in the course player, at the bottom.

You can use the toggle table of content button to hide the table of contents, and you can use Previous and Next button to move within the lesson or across.

You can view lessons while offline (SCORM is not supported in offline mode). You can also take quiz and survey. Upon finishing the quiz, you will see Result Not Available message, as your score will be shown only when test's responses are synced when you go online again. While you stay offline, you can only attempt a test once.

Step 7: Once you are online, you can off the flight mode, and launch the course again. This time you will see a screen that will prompt you to sync the offline activities and test attempts. Click on sync buttons to sync both lesson activities and test attempts. Once finished, you can resume the course in online mode. If you had already finished all requirements of the course, it would be marked completed.

Step 8: Go back and refresh the Enrolled and Completed tabs. You will see your completed course there.

Troubleshooting Tips

When you switch from offline to online mode, its always good to click the Refresh Enrolled courses button, to ensure your login session is restored. Note that if session has timed out, or if there was another session created from another computer or device for your user account, you will need to login again. Upon refresh, you will see an error message and upon clicking the Dismiss, you will be taken to login screen.

Its a good idea to clear the application cache from time to time. There are two places to clear the cache from.

First is course player's cache. To do this, launch any course, and click on the menu at top tight corner. And click on Clear Cache menu. You can clear this only while online. After clearing the cache make sure to reload the course once while you are online.

Second is API, Object and Files cache. To clear this cache, open the Settings and go to Storage option. The click on menu at the top right corner. Clear all three cache individually.
